New Years' or Drunken Party Night?

From the time I can remember celebrating New Year's, I have never seen an ounce of alcohol in my sight. But after getting off work tonight, I work at a local grocery store as a cashier, I saw in person the true meaning of a New Year to most people.....getting drunk. After having a whole night to process it, I just don't understand. Going through elementary school we were always told about New Year's Revolution's, and how we can have a clean slate(back to that later on). If I were someone who had a problem with getting drunken, I would make it a priority, but apparently that's not it to many. I had a person come through my line tonight, telling about all of his resolutions for the year, meanwhile I was ringing up his $115 order of all alcoholic beverages. Then he said something that struck me with anger, "My number one resolution is to save money." Yes, this man just told me he was trying to save money this year, after getting all of his beer.

Another example of how a relaxing holiday has turned into a hazardous holiday. I have someone whom works with me, and is known to be a wild-party girl. She came through my line(yes, she is age), and was buying some beer and some wine. Then she asked me, "Do we sell ping-pong balls?" To that I said, "No," in which the reply was, "Well, do you know anywhere to buy them? I need some for beer-pong." Just as that was said I looked down, in disgust to see a cross necklace. All, in all drinking is not a "bad" thing, getting drunk is. In the Bible people drink several times, but you only see trouble when they get drunk, hence Noah on the Ark. I see New Year's not as a time to renew, but a time of stress. Not mainly for myself in general, but having to hear things from people, in general, saying ", Man, Christmas has drained my checking account, I hope I have enough to buy this." This= a case of beers, or a carton of cigarettes.

New Year's to some is a time to get a new start, but to those whom are unsaved, I'm sorry- January 1st of 2009 does not mean a clean slate for you. If you really want a clean start I suggest you go to someone with greater wisdom than myself, such as a pastor, or a youth minister"jesusjournals.blogspot.com"

All I can say is, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."-John 3:16. Jesus, God's son, was killed on a cross, dying for us, not for him. Jesus didn't want glory, but he wanted us to have a chance to be saved from our sins. Not I plead with you not to wait, because for all we know, Jesus could be back any minute now. Please, I am begging, if you are not saved, go talk to someone about it. You really do not want to spend an eternity in Hell.

Thank you for reading, and best of luck in 2009. Happy New Year!

Psalm 117

College Football 101-12/31/08&1/1/09

So, I realize this is coming a bit late, but I'm going to start posting my bowl predictions, starting with today's game:

-Houston vs. Air Force(In progress 24-20 Houston): Houston wins 38-34
-Oregon State vs. Pittsburgh: I take Oregon St. in a close one, 28-24
-Vanderbilt vs. Boston College: People aren't giving the Commadores much of a chance, but I believe momentum will keep this one close. BC manages to slip away from upset, 35-32
-Kansas vs. Minnesota: This one makes me mad, it's on NFL Network(which I don't get). I really wanted to see this one because I have a feeling it is going to be a great one. Kansas wins 42-28
-LSU vs. Georgia Tech: Georgia Tech's offense should be rolling in this one, my only worry is their defense, even against a LSU team that struggled on offense. GT wins 35-28

January 1,2009
-Iowa vs. South Carolina: Iowa wins on a surprising passing game. Too much focus is put on the Hawkeyes running game. Iowa 21-17.
-Michigan St. vs. Georgia: Georgia wins this one easy. Dawgs win 42-10
-Clemson vs. Nebraska: Cornhuskers can't stop the motivation given by Thunder and Lightning. Tigers spoil Nebraska's fun, winning 35-7
-Virginia Tech vs. Cincinnati: This one should be fun. The Hokies do come out on top though, winning in convincing fashion, 35-3
-USC vs. Penn St.: USC, in my mind, is the best team in the country this year. The Trojans handle Clark and the Nittany Lions, winning 35-17

With so many close bowl games so far, many peoples records are shot, including mine. My record currently stands at 7-10.

CD REVIEW #1

This is the first CD review from "Joey's Corner :)" This will be short, sweet, and to the point.

This is a review of Stephanie Smith's, who is under contract with Gotee Records(Toby Mac), debut album "Not Afraid." The CD reminds me of the original American Idol, Kelley Clarkson, with the Pop-Rock variety of music. The apparent "bring-you-in" song on this CD is 'Superstar." "Superstar" is, from my point of view, is about God watching down on us, and that every move is all from Him. Another great track is the bonus track, "First Words." This is the life story of Stephanie, from where she was born until now. Stephanie's story is one of a kind, and I really enjoyed hearing it in person. All-in-All this CD is not bad for her first. I expect to see more releases from her in the coming years.

My rating: 7.5/10

Reason for rating: This CD is great, but somehow I don't feel she is really proving her record label. Gotee Records is a Christian label group for all of you who don't know. Stephanie has some songs, "Superstar," "Renew Me," "You Alone," etc., all fit into the category, just not all. I expected this with being a first, and expect an absolutely amazing 2nd album. Good Job Stephanie Smith!

Welcome to my world :)

Man, it feels great knowing I can let out my emotions on this blog. I'm going to try to fill up your mind, and my own with this thing. I have great things in my mind on what to do :) I am already in the works of reviewing Stephanie Smith's debut album. I saw her sing and give her testimony at YEC on Monday, and I thought she was great. One of my great friends and my youth director has an amazing blog, and mine will compare nothing to it, "Jesus Journals" would be the name of it :) I hope to make this blog awesome, and I hope to glorify God in all my posts. :) :) :) Thanks!
